|
AccessPatrol is an easy-to-use Device management and Power management software that can readily be utilized by non-technical users. |

Which operating systems does AccessPatrol support? |
| Windows 2000 Professional/Server
SP4, Windows XP SP2, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server
and Windows Vista. |

What are the limitations of the trial? |
| The trial version of AccessPatrol is fully
functional for 30 days. You can install up to 50 clients. |

Is AccessPatrol Vista compatible? |
|
All components of AccessPatrol are Vista
compatible. |

Can my users see AccessPatrol running on their
computers? |
|
No, AccessPatrol runs in stealth mode and
is hidden in the services. The users will not notice AccessPatrol
running in the background. |

| B1. | Which devices can be controlled by AccessPatrol? |
| AccessPatrol can control the following devices:
- CD/DVD drives
- Floppy drives
- USB Storage devices (such as thumb drives, memories
cards and USB sticks)
- Bluetooth adapters
- WiFi adapter
- External hard drive
- FireWire
- Serial port
- Parallel port

| B2. | Which users can AccessPatrol block? |
| You can block any users on the network,
including administrator, power users, guests, and etc. |

| B3. | I want to block all the USB Devices which may
be inserted in my absence. What should I do? |
| Right click on the PC or the group, select
Device Security > Device Permissions. Select the device
you want to block from the left hand pane and assign the
No Access permission to them. |

| B4. | Can I remove a blocked USB Drive? |
| Yes, you can remove a blocked USB drive.
However, it is recommended to remove the USB Drives when
it is in the unblocked state. Or use the safe-Removal of
USB. |

| B5. | In what way does AccessPatrol save power consumption? |
| AccessPatrol allows the administrator to
remotely shutdown, restart and boot up all the computers
with AccessPatrol client installed. You can shutdown the
PC when they are not in use and boot them up when you need
to. You can do it remotely in a single click. |

| B6. | Boot computer does not work for my computer? |
| Ensure you Network card supports WOL (Wake-On-LAN)
and ensure this feature is enabled in the BIOS. |

| B7. | Can I create a schedule for the shutting down
and booting up of computers? |
| Yes, AccessPatrol has a power
scheduler that allows you to create daily or weekly schedules
and specify the time for shutting down and booting up computers. |

| B8. | How can I restrict the use of the AccessPatrol
Console to unauthorized personnel? |
| You can use the "Manage Operators"
feature of Console.
- Go to Settings > Manage Operators.
- Click on the Add button.
- Fill in the appropriate fields. Remember to assign
the appropriate roles.
- Click on Add Operators to create the account
- Click on the checkbox Enable Password Security
After enabling the password security, the AccessPatrol Console
will prompt the user for a username and password when the
software is launched. Unauthorized personnel will not gain
access to the console.

| B9. | I am not able to find the AccessPatrol Client
icon in system tray. |
| Right click on the group >
Client Settings. Enable the option Show client in system
tray.
Alternatively, if you know the password of Client, Run the
command "cwACPtrl -p password -s 1" in command prompt.
This will add the Client icon in system tray. |

| B10. | How can I manage the Client computers in Console? |
| You can manage all the clients
in several groups or subgroups in Console. You can use the
drag n drop method to put a PC in a specific group.
For the management of newly connected clients, go to Settings
> General Settings. Under the New Clients tab, select the
group you want the new clients to be transfer to as soon
as they connect to the AccessPatrol Server for the first
time. |

Will the blocked devices be accessible when the AccessPatrol server is not running? |
| The AccessPatrol Client retains
data on the client side. If the server is unavailable, the
permissions will still applying to the client computers.
If you want to turn this feature off, right click on the
group > Client Settings.
Uncheck the option Apply block settings when server is unavailable.
If this option is unchecked, when the server becomes unavailable,
the client computers will not be blocked. |

| B12. | Can I access the blocked devices on stopping
the client service? |
| After stopping the AccessPatrol
Client Service you can access all the devices. |
|
| B13. | Can I allow my IT staffs to use their devices
on the computers?
|
| Yes, you can add their devices
to the allowed list. Any device on the allowed list will
gain exclusive privilege from AccessPatrol. Devices on the
allowed list will have full access on any of the user's
computers. |

Installation Help |
| |
| C1 | Do the AccessPatrol server and Consoler need to be installed on the same system? |
| It is not necessary to install
the Server or Console onto a Server OS. However, it is recommended
that the Server component be installed on a system which
is running most of the time.
The AccessPatrol Console can be installed on any system
from which you want to manage the device access and power
control of the clients. There are no limits to the number
of AccessPatrol Consoles you want to install on your network. |

| C2 | How do I install all components of AccessPatrol
onto a Single computer? |
| You can install Server, Console
and Client to the same computer. You can use "Loopback"
as the IP address for the Client and the Console. |

| C3 | Why can't I see the Client Computer and its User
in the Console window after installation? |
|
Check the following settings.
- Ensure that the Client is installed with admin login
rights
- Make sure there are no firewall and/or virus scan
software intercepting with the Client and Console.
- Use IP address instead of Computer Name to connect
to the Console
Run the following script on the run command of the client
PC: CwAcptrl.exe -p Admin -v
(please note that Admin is the default case sensitive password).
If you changed the password during the installation of the
client, then please substitute it in place of Admin.
This will bring up the client interface. On the interface,
you can check the server name. Or edit the server name to
the IP address.
- Ping the Console from the Client.
- Make sure the Client service is running.
- If you are using a Firewall, then ensure that port
TCP 8995 is open on the Client PC. On the Server PC
ensure that TCP 3050 is open.
- Reboot Client.
- Check if Firebird database Service is running on the
Server PC

| C4 | How do I install IIS in order to use the multiple
web console mode in AccessPatrol? |
| For Windows XP:
- On your server computer, go to start menu > Control
Panel > Add or Remove programs.
- Click on Add/Remove Windows Components from
the left hand pane.
- Look for the Internet Information Services (IIS)
component and select the checkbox. Click Next.
- Windows will prompt you to insert your Windows Operating
System set up disc.
- Proceed to install IIS on your computer.
For Windows Vista:
- On your server computer, go to start menu > Control
Panel > Programs and Features.
- On the left hand pane, click on Turn Windows features
on or off.
- Browse through the list to select Internet Information
Services. Click OK.
- Windows will prompt you to insert your Windows Operating
System set up disc.
- Proceed to install IIS on your computer.

| C5 | How do I access the AccessPatrol web console Remotely? |
| The AccessPatrol console can be accessed from any computer on the network
with an OS of XP, 2003 and Vista. Below are the steps for accessing the console remotely:
- From a remote computer, please access http://[serverPC]/cwaccesspatrol/index.htm from the AccessPatrol Server computer.
- The below prerequisites are required:
- Windows Installer 3.1
- .NET Framework 3.1
- AccessPatrol certificate
To install one or all of the above software, please click on the Run button. AccessPatrol Console will be opened automatically after that.
Please note that if one of the above prerequisites already exists on the computer, then it will not be re-installed.
Remotely access the AccessPatrol Console
To remotely launch the AccessPatrol Console, please access http://[serverPC]/cwaccesspatrol/accesspatrol.xbap from the AccessPatrol Server computer.

| C6 | How do I install the AccessPatrol Client component
remotely? |
| An administrator can install
the AccessPatrol client from one central location by using
the remote client installer.
- Go to Settings > Remote Client Install
- Browse for the cwACPClient.MSI file located
in C:\Program files\Codework\AccessPatrol\ACPClient
- Fill in the appropriate fields. Click Next
- You can manually add the computer to the list or click
on the search button for AccessPatrol to find all your
computers on the network. Select the computers and click
Next.
- Enter the correct local or domain administrator's
username and password.
- Proceed to install the client.
Note: In order for the remote client install to work properly,
for Windows XP, disable the simple file sharing option.
For Vista, disable UAC. |

Uninstall Help |
| |
| D1. | Can I remotely stop/uninstall the Client Service? |
| You can remotely stop or Uninstall
the AccessPatrol client service from the Console. |

| D2. | How can I uninstall the AccessPatrol Client? |
| The AccessPatrol Client can
be uninstalled from the AccessPatrol Console by right clicking
the Client and selecting Client Service > Uninstall.
If the Client is not connected to the Server or if the Client
does not appear on the Console, please follow these steps
to uninstall the Client:
1. At a client PC, click on Start > Run. Enter the following
script:
cwAcptrl.exe –p Admin –u (Please note that Admin
is the default password and is case sensitive. If you
changed the password during the client installation, then
please substitute that password in place of Admin. )
2. You will be presented with the Client interface. Click
uninstall button.
3. Reboot the PC.
4. Repeat this step for all the client PCs.

a license key which will allow you to activate the software

| 12 months free maintenance
entitles you to free upgrades and telephone/ e-mail support
for the year. |

No! Your license key is a

You only have to pay a maintenance fee once each year, if
you would like to continue receiving free upgrades and support.
