Soundbooth Plus – A Digital Language lab

“The key features of Soundbooth Plus are that any ICT suite with the addition of headsets becomes a language lab and most importantly it gives every language student access to the client software via the schools VLE or on USB memory sticks so that lessons can be accessed at home, additionally students can gain confidence in speaking a language by working through items in Soundbooth and listening back to their own recorded responses.

We have continued to develop Soundbooth Plus based on feedback from schools and we recently added a new grouping feature that allows communication and monitoring of selected groups of language students from the Teacher Console. The new feature allows for a simplistic “drag & drop” means of assigning students to groups and has already been applauded for its simplicity and clear functionality. Most importantly it is ideal way to get students speaking in the target language.

Soundbooth now has a multi-language Virtual Keyboard, currently covering a range of around 10 languages (including Welsh & Pinyin). The virtual keyboard gives students access to letters and accents without having to remember complicated keyboard shortcuts. To make it even simpler students are able to use their physical keyboard in conjunction with the virtual keyboard. In 2010 we are continuing with the development and a beta release of our new version of the Soundbooth Plus will be available from the first week of February for any schools who would like to get involved in testing.”

Netop Mobile & Embedded new release planned for January 2010

Netop Mobile & Embedded 9.5 Host will be released in January and features extended platform support for Windows Mobile 6.5, including Windows Mobile 6.1 and Windows Embedded CE 6.0. Also new to this release:

  • Mobile Skins – use graphical representations of the mobile devices which will allow the Guest to remotely view and control the mobile device specific buttons and keys in addition to the standard keyboard and mouse commands.
  • WebConnect Integration – take advantage of the Netop WebConnect technology with Netop Mobile Host allowing internet-friendly connectivity across the HTTP protocol without additional configuration to firewalls, proxies or routers. This allows a direct connection between the Guest and Host without the end user requesting help.

New Netop Remote Control 9.5

Netop Remote Control 9.5 was launched on December 1, 2009, and features support for Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows Server 2008 R2. In addition, this release also includes:

  • ActiveX Guest – To improve Netop Remote Control 9.5 accessibility and integration, the new ActiveX Guest is now available for customers to embed the core Netop Remote Control Guest functionality into their own applications and web sites. Support for Netop WebConnect also offers internet-friendly connectivity without the need to configure firewalls.
  • WebConnect Domains – Manage your own WebConnect accounts by appointing a Domain Administrator for each WebConnect domain created.  You now have more security, flexible account management and a hierarchical structure when hosting the WebConnect service. 
  • Even More vPro Functionality – The extended vPro functionality includes improved network scanning, an updated inventory module, improved diagnostics, custom commands and updated event descriptions.

Netop OnDemand 2.1 and Netop WebConnect 1.6 on December 1

Netop OnDemand 2.1 was released on December 1, 2009, and features support for Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows Server 2008 R2. In addition, this release also includes:

  • Proxy Host Authentication – The Host will prompt the end user to enter their proxy credentials if the client machine is configured to a proxy server. Once the authentication is made, the Host will connect to the Guest via WebConnect using HTTP 80.
  • Enhanced Setup and Communication – The WebConnect database can now be located on a different SQL server. Both the Connection Manager and Connection Server can now reside in the company’s DMZ using locally assigned static IP addresses.
  • Improved Pack’n Deploy – The utility for creating, customizing and deploying the Netop OnDemand Host has been enhanced with a number of additions including improved setup wizards.
